Hard to believe that it's been 9 weeks


Teachers Notes:

So sorry that this is coming out so late. I hope that you had a wonderful weekend. Thank you all for all that you do and for your continued support. Just a reminder to sign up for parent teacher conferences if you haven't already. Yesterday a field trip form was sent home, we will be having a tour of the construction on November 3rd. If you would like your child to attend please fill out both sides of the form. It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of the 1st nine weeks. It has been such a joy to teach your children and thank you so much for all your support. If you have any questions or concerns please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Important Dates:

  • October 19th- Home and School meeting at 6:30

  • October 20th- Flu Shot clinic, End of the 1st nine weeks, dismissal at 1:00 no after school

  • October 26th- no school, parent teacher conferences

  • October 27- No school

  • October 31- Tiger Day (1st and 5th grade)

November

  • November 1 – Hearing Screenings; Holy Day

  • November 3 – Family Picnic Day, Book Fair Preview

  • November 4 – Fall Festival & Book Fair

  • November 6 – Picture Retakes

  • November 9 – Veterans' Day Activities; Little Ike Storytime

  • November 10 – No School

  • November 14 – School Council

Homework:

  • Monday- Read 10 minutes

  • Tuesday- Read 10 minutes, study spelling words, and practice math facts

  • Wednesday- read 10 minutes, study spelling words, and practice math facts

  • Thursday- Read 10 minutes, study spelling words, and practice math facts

  • Friday- Read for 10 minutes and have a wonderful weekend

Reading:

In Reading this week we will be working on the digraph qu and the sounds they make together. We will also be working on a presentation of a job in the neighborhood. The students are working in groups of 2 to learn about and tell their classmates about a job that one can have. We will be writing sentences and making a picture of what a person in that job may look like.

Math:

In Math this week we are going to be continuing our work with word problems and finding the missing number in an addition sentence. We will also be working on number bonds and what each part of the bond means.

Religion:

In Religion this week we will be talking about the sacrament of Baptism. We will be learning about the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. She was a young Native American who ended up becoming baptised in the faith.
