4th Grade News

Hello!

My name is Jayme Randles and I have the pleasure to spend this year with your children. This will be my 10th year teaching and I am very excited for this year! I spent time being a stay at home mom for my older three kids and then went back to school and graduated from Sterling College in 2010, I have taught 4th grade 9 years and English as a Second Language for 1 year.

My husband, Alan, and I have been married for 20 years. Alan teaches for the Salina school district and helps coach Abilene Cowboy football. We have 4 children Jackson, 20, Grace, 19, Tristan, 17, and Lucas 6 years. We also have one fur baby a labradoodle, Drake.

Please feel free to call me at school or email me if you have any questions or concerns. My plan time is 8:05a.m.-8:55 a.m. that is when I regularly check my email, anything after that may not be answered until after school or the next day.

I look forward for a great year!

Mrs. Randles

Thank you for all your help!

Math

For math, we will be utilizing the website, Zearn. My hope is that this will work like a “reverse” classroom where the students will watch a video giving the instruction and then proceed through the activities. While students are working through the video and assignments, I will be working with the students that are having trouble. This will allow all students to move along more at their own pace.

Reading/ELA

Reading is crucial to education, it is so important to read every day, even if it is just for 20 minutes. Read cereal boxes, newspaper articles, online articles, etc. PLEASE have your child reading something every day. I ask that each student read at lest 20 minutes. There is no log sheet. It is on the honor system and they will have an easy time passing AR tests if they read every day.

Also, expect spelling words every week. You should be able to find them in your child’s planner.

I am happy to celebrate your child’s birthday. All you need to do is send me a note or email with the date you would like to celebrate. If your child has a summer birthday we could do either the half birthday or the beginning or end of the year.

Tid-bits

It is my policy to not send homework home just for the sake of doing homework. Family time and extra curriculars are very important. I do try to give the students time in class every day to work on their homework, however, sometimes, it just can’t be avoided, and it needs to be taken home and finished. Please double check their homework folder for anything that needs your signature! Also, check your child’s planner every night and sign it. This is a great tool to know what we are doing in class!

Reusable water bottles are encouraged in my room, filled with plain WATER only (not flavored water). All water bottles need to be taken home at least each Friday, washed and brought back on Monday.
