Student Corner

Home Reading Program
Students are challenged to read for ten minutes each school night as part of their homework. Those not old enough to read can have a parent, grandparent, older sibling, etc. read to them. Students should record minutes on their home reading log and turn in to their classroom teacher monthly. More information will be given by your child's teacher.
Battle of the Books
The Battle of the Books combines students' love of literature with the thrill of competition. Students who join the program read books selected by a committee and engage in a variety of activities to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the books.
In the spring, each team battles for a chance to represent St. Andrew's Elementary School and battle another school in the diocese. Teams are asked questions about the books they have read and awarded points for their answers. The highest-scoring team wins.
