First Grade Garden Week of September 19th- 23rd
Thank you for an amazing week last week and I hope that you have a wonderful week this week. We have a lot going on and homework may seem like a lot. There will be spelling tests each week and to help your student study their words I will be sending home spelling homework. Next Monday there will be no school and as it is a staff inservice day. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me. Thank you for your time and patience.
September 19 – Picture Day
September 24 – Open House
September 26 – No School, Staff Inservice
This week your student will have a tic tac toe worksheet for spelling. They are to choose one thing from a column to do that night. This will give your students a fun way to learn and study their spelling words. They will also be getting a math worksheet each night along with the 10 minutes of reading. The reading logs will be sent back home today. If you need a new log please email me or send in a note and I will send one home with your student that day.
Spelling Words of the week:
Today is picture day, if you forgot to send in a packet to buy pictures I believe you will still be able to purchase them online tonight. Please do so quickly to ensure that you recieve your pictures. We are having mass this week on Monday and Wednesday and would love for you to join us. Friday is a sack lunch day, if you have not done so already please sign up your student for a sack lunch if they will not be bringing one. As always if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Saint of the Week:
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha (1656-1680)
Kateri Tekakwitha, a Native American, was born in New York state. At age 20 she was baptized. This demanded great courage because her own people discriminated against her for becoming a Catholic. Kateri escaped to Canada, where she cared for the sick and taught Bible stories to children. Her feast day is July 14th.
