Our first month of school

We have been learning about colors this month! We first learned our primary colors: red, blue and yellow! Then we did a bit of science experiment by mixing up our primary colors... making the secondary colors: orange, green and purple! We had fun wearing same color outfits, bringing show and tell items from home, coloring (we have been coloring with crayons AND markers!), reading and doing activities with those colors. We made some art pieces with white crayons on black paper, and we learned how to make pink :)

We are working on our fine motor skills while coloring, cutting and gluing. We are focusing on pencil grip, as we are getting ready to write letters. We are trying to color inside the lines with markers, crayons and pencils. We are taking this very seriously!

We made a wind chime mobile together for our classroom using beads and bells. That was really fun and the finished product makes a lovely little sound :)

Playing with new things in preschool is fascinating!!!

In religion, we talked about how Jesus is our good shepherd. Jesus takes good care of us, like a shepherd does with his sheep! We also talked about other people who take care of us. Take some time to discuss with your children who are the people who take care of them, and to remember them in their prayers of thanksgiving :)

This week, we also talked about how each of us is special and unique, how God knows us since before we were born, and how our parents picked a special name just for us! At home, you can tell your children the story of how you chose their name (and middle name :)!

Talking about special and unique...

We celebrated Elias and Brayden's birthdays this month!

They both turned 4 :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Elias and Brayden!!!!

We also talk about safety at school. A letter went home in the red folders to give you ideas about some of the safety discussions that you can continue at home with your children. This week, we discussed the importance of identifying grown-up buddies in their lives, who they can go to in any unsafe or confusing situation.

Beth Anne Kriegbaum (aka Cole's Mom :) accepted the role of Classroom Coordinator this year. She will be my link towards parents volunteers. When we need to organize classroom parties, for the auction project, for field trips or special events, she will let you know what we need in order to make these events fun and to have you included as much as possible in your child's life at school! She would really love to get some help with this job, so please reach out to her if you would like to help for a specific event/project. THANK YOU SO MUCH volunteers for all you do!!!!
