This was one of many very sweet moments that we witness as teachers at St. Andrew's. The older girls were reassuring a younger student last week and taking her to play with them.

Grandparent Day is Friday, September 5. This is for students in all day preschool through fifth grade. We will start with a picnic lunch at noon.  A blessing of the new musical garden, Bingo, and mass follow.  Please send an invitation to your child's grandparents. This was sent via e-mail. A paper copy also went home last Friday.

We could use a few more BINGO prizes - gently used or new items for children and grandparents welcome!

If your child has outgrown his/her orange shirt - please send to school and we will pass on to another student. If you need to order a new one, please get your order in by Sept 1.

Want to order uniform items with the St. Andrew's logo? An order form went home last week. Pictures of options were in your newsletter e-mail last week. Orders are due September 5.

Thank you to all who provided paper, snacks for teachers, and other items in August!

The tragedy in Minneapolis this week is heartbreaking and so very hard to understand. What can we do?

  • First, we can continue to pray for the victims and their families and for all affected by this tragedy.

  • We can also look at our own safety precautions at our school. You should have received a practice emergency notification text on Monday at about 10:40 a.m. If you did not receive the text, or if you want to add a second person to receive these, please let us know. We do practice crisis situations both at the school and in church, and we will continue to do this.

  • Fr. Peter and I have been in discussions, and we have decided to lock the church doors from now on when we are at school mass. If you need to pick up your child during mass time, we will have staff members designated near the side door. Mrs. Herrman will notify us via text.

  • Most importantly, we need to continue to teach our children to love God above all else and to love others. Teaching our children to treat others with dignity and respect is so important.

  • We will continue to help children experience the joys of childhood while at the same time doing what we can to help protect them as much as possible. Please know that the safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority.

  • If you would like to take a turn sitting in the back of church during mass to help with locking and unlocking the doors, please contact me or Fr. Peter.

We are enjoying some new after school activities including this cool John Deere Checkers Game.
