Teachers Corner:
Ready for another week with you! This is going to be a busy week but a fun week. Last week report cards were sent home. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me those questions and I will get back to you as soon as possible. We are slowly getting closer to the auction, as a new teacher I hope that you can all help guide me in how this works. If you have any ideas please either email me or the parent coordinator. As the new year begins we are running low on snacks from last semester. Thank you to my parents who have sent in snacks. We have just enough snacks for this week, but by next week we will have run out. If you are able to send in snacks we appreciate all that you do. Again thank you for all you do and all your support! Your student will bring home a list of sight words. If they still struggled with most of the words on last weeks list it will be the same list. If they were able to easily read the words they will come home with a new list.
Math:
This week we are going to be focused on word problems. We will be looking at how to tell if it is asking to add or subtract and working out the problem.
Science:
How do plants change as they grow? This week our reading connects with our science and we will be doing a lot of readings and talking about how plants change as they grow.
Religion:
This week we are going to be talking about the presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
Saint of the Week:
Saint Katharine Drexel (1858-1955) Katharine Drexel founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. Their mission includes spreading the Gospel and teaching about the Eucharist. Katharine used her wealth to establish missions and schools for Native and African Americans. She was canonized or declared a saint of the church, in 2000. Her feast day is March 3. Prayer for the week: Loving God, give us thankful hearts to celebrate the gifts of your Son in the Eucharist. Help us share with others our belief that Jesus Christ is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. Amen.
