Teachers Notes:

Welcome to 1st grade! What a wonderful time to come back and I am so happy to have been given the chance to be your students teacher! They are so much fun! It is going to be an amazing year! We had a wonderful 1st week and it feels like it flew by! I've loved getting the opportunity to know your students and learn about them this week. Next week we will have our first spelling test of the year, they will have them every Friday first thing in the morning. Thank you for all that you do! If you ever have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email me! I love hearing from you!

UFLI:

In Ufli we will be talking about what the letter a says when it is next to the letters n and m. We will also review the short sound i makes. We will be spelling words with the short sounds of i and a. We will also be writing sentences while focusing on these sounds as well.

Reading:

In Reading this week we will be starting our 1st Unit which is all about Our Neighborhoods. The overall units essential question is What is a neighborhood?

This week our essential question is: How can neighbors help each other? We will be reading realistic fiction stories and talking about what makes a story realistic fiction. We will focus on the characters, the setting and the events that happen in the stories. We will also be reviewing nouns and what a noun is. We will write some sentences while focusing on the noun.

Math:

In Math this week we will be working on number bonds. We will talk about adding numbers between 1-7. We will also be starting word problems and how to write expressions and number sentences.

Religion:

In religion we will be talking about how God is Love and that how God wants to have a loving relationship with each of us. We will also be reviewing our prayers!
