Teachers Notes:
This week we will be doing a big project where they will get to share something they learned about a family member. Thank you for helping them with this project! I hope they have had fun doing this with their families. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. UFLI:
This week we will be talking about the letter G making the /j/ sound when it follows a silent e like in the word cage. We will also be reviewing all VCe words and exceptions during the week. We did our 1 minute reading passages last week and I will be sending those home for you to see on Wednesday.
Reading:
In reading this week we will be finishing up Unit 4: making history and focusing on What we have learned about our history so far and why it is important for us to continue to learn about our history. We will also be sharing an interview that they did with an elderly family member; on Thursday and Friday. We will also be continuing to work on blending and segmenting sounds and words and taking a closer look at word endings. We will learning about the vowel team ie. Lastly, we will be learning and discussing what a compound sentence is.
Math:
In math we will be working on understanding a two digit number represent tens and ones. We will also be comparing quantities with greater than, less then and equal signs.
Social Studies:
In social studies we will be presenting what we have learned about the past this unit. We will also be sharing our three questions and what the answers that we got from a relative. Your student is to bring in a paper with the three questions and the answers written below on or before Wednesday. They will then get to share who they talked to, and at least one thing they learned on Thursday or Friday with the class about their family member.
Science:
In science this week we will be learning about plant traits and offspring's, what will a baby plant look like when it grows up? We will be starting a plant journal as we begin to grow a plant in class.
Religion:
In Religion this week we will be talking about when Jesus, our savior is born. We will also be continuing to learn about St. Mother Theresa.
