1st Grade Newsletter February 19-23rd

Teachers Notes:

I hope that this find all of you doing well. Next week we will not have a spelling test since we have Monday off. If you are able to join us on Friday for Bingo at village manner we would love to have you come along. Drivers are still needed and the time would be from 1:00-1:45-ish. We are coming to the end of our snack supply and if you are able to please send in more snacks. Thank you for all that you do and your continued support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you again and I hope that you have a wonderful rest of your day. Attached to the bottom are some pictures from last week.

Important Dates:

  • Monday February 19th- No school

  • Friday February 23rd- Bingo at Village manner for 1st grade

  • March 1st-End of 3rd quarter/ Dismiss at 1:00, Family Picnic Day

  • March 6th-School all day, No bus service

  • March 7th- Parent Teacher Conferences

  • March 8th-17th Spring Break


  • Monday- Read for 10 minutes, and math facts

  • Tuesday-Read for 10 minutes, and math facts

  • Wednesday-Read for 10 minutes and math facts

  • Thursday- Read for 10 minutes and math facts

  • Friday- Read for 10 minutes and math facts


  • In reading this week we will be learning about poetry and we will be practicing writing our own. We will be talking about singular and plural nouns along with common and proper nouns. We will be reviewing all the long vowel sounds we have learned so far along with our digraphs and trigraphs.

  • There will be no spelling words this week!


  • In math this week we will be making ten when one addend is 8, comparing the efficiency of counting on and making ten when one addend is 8, Solving problems with addends of 7,8 and 9, and word problems.


  • In Religion this week we will learn about how the Holy Spirit helps us pray. We will also be learning about Saint Clare. We will also be learning more about lent.


  • In Science this week we will be talking about the patterns of the moon and stars.
