October 6 Notes

Recap of this week:

Math: end of unit math test-kids did great! Starting time and measurement. Please help your child practice telling time on an analogue (not digital) clock at home. Please practice + and - facts (1-10) at home. It's very helpful to have these memorized for the students to be successful with multiplication and division.

Reading & Social Studies: Essential Question: How do landmarks help us understand our country's history?

We read a book about the National Mall in Washington D.C. and Mount Rushmore.

Only ONE MORE WEEK to take AR tests for the first quarter! An updated AR progress report came home in planners last evening-please sign and return if your child is still working toward his/her goal.

Religion: We learned about our guardian angels and the Holy Spirit.

Science: We are finishing up our plant unit. Posters are due next Wednesday.

Friday: Spelling Test; No uniform day with $1 or a canned good; Family picnic day @ 11:30 (bring or order a sack lunch) ; Label packet due (this was sent home last week)

*Friday afternoon is our movie party for trash bag sales: Students may bring a blanket/stuffed animal/pillow in a white trash bag labeled with their NAME on it.

Next Week:

MONDAY: NO SCHOOL: Teacher Inservice

Tuesday: Bishop says Mass

Wednesday, October 14: Plant Poster Due

**Battle of the Books meeting: 3-4**

Friday: End of 1st Quarter: Last day to take AR tests to meet goal; Dismiss at 1:00
