October 7 Third Grade News

*Look for an email coming next Monday with a link to sign up for Parent Teacher conferences.

Tomorrow is our Trash Bag party. We're walking to the Great Plains Theater at 12:45p.m. and will return approximately 2:50 p.m.

Math:

-Multiplication Facts (3's & 4's)

-Tomorrow we'll make new multiplication flash cards: 2's & 5's.

-Measurement, fun activities with weight and using scales

-Grams, kilograms

-Telling Time (please work on this at home! Students should be able to tell time to the hour, half hour, quarter hour. We're now working on telling time to the minute.)

Science:

We finished up our plant unit and took our test this week. We enjoyed sharing our plant projects. The students did SUCH a great job on these! Thanks for your help at home.

Language Arts:

-Spelling Test tomorrow

-We've had several kiddos meet their AR goals! The last day to take AR tests is Friday, October 15!

*We are starting the BOOK-IT program this month! It runs from October through March. Students who read 60 minutes and turn in the reading log every week each month will earn a coupon for a free personal pizza. I still remember doing this as a child and it was so fun! ;)

Social Studies:

We learned about Fire Safety and enjoyed a visit from local firefighters!

Friendzy:

We started a new chapter.

Our catchphrase is: "LOVE at all times."

Key verses:

"A friend loves at all times."

"Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show truth by our actions."

Goal: To show love at all times through words and actions, even when it's hard.
