UFLI:

In UFLI this week we will be learning about the FLSZ rule. The FLSZ rule is that when we hear f, l, s, or z at the end of a word after a short vowel sound, we use double letters to spell that sound. A helpful sentence to use to help remember this is "Jeff will pass buzz".

We will also be talking about how words that end in -all, -oll, and -ull can make a different sound than we might think. -all as in call, all, small. -oll as in roll, and troll. -ull as in pull and full.

Reading:

In reading this week we will be reading two short realistic fiction stories about a neighborhood. Our question of the week is how can I meet my neighbors? Lastly, we will be learning more about simple sentences and reviewing nouns and verbs.

Math:

In math this week we will continue working with math stories and pictures. We will be working on our fluency of adding numbers between 1 and 10. We will also be working on counting and Identifying numbers 0-120.

Religion:

In Religion this week we will continue to talk about Knowing and Loving God and how we can make time for God in our busy days. We will also be working on knowing the Our Father prayer and leading the school in closing prayer this week.

Saint of the week:

Our Saint of the week this week is Saint Vincent de Paul. Saint Vincent was born on April 24th, 1581 in France. St. Vincent de Paul is the patron saint of charity and all charitable work. He is also the patron saint of charitable societies, hospitals and hospital workers, and volunteers. His life's work focused on serving the poor. As a young priest traveling for business St. Vincent was captured by pirates and sold into slavery for 2 years. His master, a Christian who had become an apostate, was eventually converted by Vincent and allowed him to return to France. His Feast days are September 27th and July 19th.

Science:

In Science this week we will be talking about animal traits that can be seen in baby and parent animals.
