We had a busy and fun week learning all about apples and friends! We read a lot of books about friendship and what it means to be a good friend. We will continue working on these social skills all year. We made friendship bracelets, sang a lot of new fun songs! We learned all about Johnny Appleseed as well as the life cycle of an apple. You should see a sequencing strip come home in their folder today of how they put the stages in order. We did apples patterning, stacking and counting and number matching in math. In religion we talked about Jesus friends and our friends here at school. We did some scholastic news on Monday and then some science on Friday. We did a taste testing (red, yellow and green) and we recorded our answers just like real scientist. We used our senses to explore the similarities and differences of the apples. We also made some fizzy bubbly apple volcanos Friday! Finally we celebrated Andy's birthday!
We have been working on the virtue of patience here at preschool-specifically waiting our turn (to talk, to share, to be a helper, etc.) This is very challenging but also a character-building skill. Please help your child practice patience at home as well. You can do this by asking them to wait a few minutes when they ask for something. We've also been working on using our words (not our hands) to communicate with friends. Using our words when we are upset is a big skill, but I know with patience and practice they will get it!
Thank you so much for joining us for our first Family Picnic Lunch Day on Friday!! It was very fun to see all the kiddos in their pajamas! I hope you all got to stay to see Mrs. Whitehair kiss the pig ;)
Important Reminders:
This week we will be studying the colors-it's fun for the students to participate by dressing in the color of the day (not a must but it's a lot of fun if they can) They are as follows:
Monday-Red
Tuesday-Blue
Wednesday-Yellow
Thursday-Orange
Friday-Green
Have a great Sunday,
-Mrs. Whitehair
