Letters Q and U

Hello and Happy Easter!! We've been busy little bees the last few weeks and I haven't gotten a newsletter out, so there will be a lot of pictures in this one! We've studied letters Q for queen and quilt and letter U for unicorn, under and unicycle.

Letter Q-

We read books about queens, and quilts and made a class quilt. We talked a lot about Mary our Mother, as she is the queen of both heaven and earth. We had some fun with continuing spring books and read "Little Cloud" and went outside to observe what we thought the clouds looked like. We made a class book out of all the preschoolers creative pictures of "Little Cloud." We also did some simple math addition problems with little cloud and used some unifix blocks to add together two numbers. During centers we enjoyed kinetic sand and exploring new puzzels as well as a board games center. I want to thank you all for the awesome turn out for parent sack lunch day!

Letter U-

We enjoyed under the table coloring (yes this was literally laying under the table coloring on paper my daughter helped me cover the tables in) :) We also enjoyed Father Peter's visit on Tuesday in which he gave us a demonstration on how he rides his unicycle. So cool! He answered questions about it and rode it all around the parking lot for us. He was very entertaining. :) We made colorful unicorns, and glittered their horns (these are in the hall.) We also did an assortment of sponge painting, watercolors and markers to color different Easter eggs (these are on the bulletin board.) We enjoyed building with blocks and dress up with babies at centers. In math we worked on matching numbers with pictures of that number. In science we are talking about what grows underground so we planted bean seeds and talked a lot about what seeds need to live and grow. We are doing an experiment to see where in the classroom is the best place to grow a bean. We also began writing in our science journals and will continue daily observations. Next week we will be planting corn seeds and doing a lot of categorizing and comparing with corn. In religion we talked about Jesus' great love for us and his sacrifice for us on the cross. We walked around and observed the stations briefly in the church to see Jesus' way of the cross. We also continued to work on our special songs (we're preparing for the program at the end of the year!) On Thursday we enjoyed a special meal (thank you Ms. Becky) to symbolize the different things Jesus and His disciples ate at the last supper. It was very interesting and yummy.

I hope you all had a joyful Easter and a wonderful time with family! I am looking forward to seeing the kiddos back tomorrow! Time is flying by so make sure you check out the important upcoming dates below. Thanks!!
